April 15, 2008 By: Julie On Friday, freeskier John Nicoletta was killed after a fall at the Freeskiing World Championships in Alyeska, AK. After dropping a 20-footer, he lost control, and went tumbling over an exposed, rocky area. Nicoletta had been living in Aspen for the last few seasons, and doing really well on the big mountain tour. He was an amazingly vibrant person and skier. Below is a link to a clip put together |

April 10, 2008 By: Julie I remember the first time I saw Dana Flahr in a TGR flick. It was at the TGR World Premiere three years ago. Needless to say, my friends and I were blown away. And, he's killing it even harder now. Check out this video of Dana in Haines, AK from a TGR trip. I absolutely love watching helmet cam footy since it gives you the perspective of the skier. And, it's good to see more and more footy of ski |

Longtime Valdez ripper killed in avalanche April 08, 2008 By: Julie Jesse Tol, a local Valdez rider, was killed in an avalanche on Monday. While the slide was not that big, it was enough to do serious damage. Jesse’s father was also with him, but he was unharmed. The slide happened when Jesse and father John were sledding. Jesse had apparently gotten off his sled to check snow conditions when the slide hit. According to officials, the snow pa |

April 07, 2008 By: Julie On Tuesday, Simon Dumont is set to try to break Terje's world record quarterpipe hit. It's so "crazy" that the New York Times ran a story about what Simon is out to do. I'm sure he'll get it. The pictures I've seen of the quarterpipe look gigantic. And, it seems like he is on his A-game right now coming off the high from Sweden. March 31, 2008 By: Julie With the weather Summit County has seen in the last month or so, I assumed we were done with winter, and that I could hang up my fat skis and just enjoy warm, sunny park days. And, with all the storms that have been forecasted for the area that were said to deliver a good amount of snow, I figured this one would be a disspointment like the rest. But, I did not give up. I set the alarm for 6: |

March 27, 2008 By: Julie One of my favorite times of the ski season is approaching...Gaper Day. Lately, it has been catching a lot of slack in Colorado everyone who actually lives here gets trashed. I found this article the Vail Daily did about our beloved holiday. Check it out! http://www.vaildaily.com/article/20050224/SPORTS/102240022   Oh, and for any of you Summit locals who don't already |

March 15, 2008 By: Julie I'm sitting in my hotel room in Sun Valley bored out of my flippin' mind. It's snowing just enough to make shooting worthless, but not nearly enough for me to actually enjoy a pow day. 48 Straight pipe practice kicks off at noon, with the finals going on tomorrow. It's snowing everywhere else, though. Alta gets 16 new. Jackson gets 18 yesterday and 8 today. What the fuck? Even Summit County is ge |
