On September 1, 2012, thousands of surfers gathered across the nation to paddle for Daisy, Al Merrick's 8-year-old granddaughter who is putting up a brave fight against cancer for the third time. From Hawaii and the coasts of Southern California to North Carolina and Florida, surfers and supporters everywhere in an effort to help raise funds and support for Daisy.
After six surgeries, 22 rounds of chemotheraphy and several bouts of radiation, Daisy Love Merrick still wears a bright smile on her face and is looking forward to a day without cancer. Unfortunately, her next treatment involves a multitude of procedures that total nearly $500,000 which isn't covered by her insurance.
Here are some photos from the El Porto (Manhattan Beach) and Maui Paddle-a-Thon this past Labor Day weekend.
Help out Daisy with a tax-deductible donation through Christian Surfers.
