FOOT  PAIN!!!! How quickly you forget ski boots and the pain sacrificed to do something we love. But…it was well worth it. Yesterday was my first day on skis for the 07-08 season. A storm rolled through Wednesday night leaving a few feet in the mountains and as I looked out my window and saw snow in my yard, I knew the ski season had officially arrived.    I could hardly withhold my excitement as I pulled all my stuff out of storage. Drew and I were like two little kids going to Disney Land for the first time. We were bouncing off the walls and way too excited. We pulled into Alta’s parking lot, along with other die hards who had come out for the day. As I pulled on my boots, the memory of foot pain and cramped toes in boots immediately came back. It took me a minute to let my foot settle into my boots. They had gotten fat from wearing flip-flops all summer and were not familiar with cramped spaces. It’s not my legs that have to get into shape each season it’s my feet. The pain can be excruciating.   We set out on our trek. We passed fellow ski fanatics like ourselves. We all had the October bug in us to ski. Drew and I were either setting a new world record to get to the top or our excitement pushed us up the mountain. We made killer time.   We stood on the ridge looking down onto three feet of fresh fluffy snow. We couldn’t contain our excitement any longer. The sun peaked out to give us perfect lighting and we were off to the races. The snow was great! Face shots and untouched powder. What more can one want? I was in heaven.   It was a first day and I must say, I think it’s the best snow I had for the 2007 year, January till now. This upcoming season looks promising. Winter is here and the season has begun. A little legwork is still needed. By the bottom, you could feel the burn in the legs. But I say, burn baby burn. The season is upon us and I am ready!
