If last night’s performances were any indication, Winter X Games 13 is the year of the underdog. First, snowmobiling megastar and defending champ Levi Lavallee fell to Joe Parsons in Snowmobile Speed and Style. Then Xavier Bertoni came out of nowhere to snatch the gold from Tanner Hall and Simon Dumont in Ski Superpipe; The two haven’t lost an X Games pipe gold in five years. Finally, defending champion Torstein Horgmo lost out to Travis Rice in Snowboard Big Air.
