Sage Kostenburg - 2010 SNB Slope Dew Cup Winner

Quiksilver rider Sage Kotsenburg is taking home the overall Dew Tour Cup for slopestyle after finishing second at the Toyota Championships in Mt. Snow. The 16-year-old took the snowboard world by surprise this season with focused confidence beyond his years, a solid bag of tricks and lots of style. He hadn t pre-qualified for the opening event in Breckenridge and quickly hit the riders to watch list after winning second place as a last minute wild card.

I wasn t even qualified for the Dew Tour and ended up winning the Cup, says Kotsenburg. I m in shock and just feel so lucky that they let me compete at Breck. Now to win it, I m so stoked!

Kotsenburg was the only rider on the Dew Tour to podium for slopestyle at every event this season. He took second in Breckenridge, third at Snowbasin and second at the Championships at Mt. Snow.
He finished the season with 260 points ahead of Torstein Horgmo and Tyler Flanagan.
Judges awarded his combination of a cab 270 onto the gap rail, switch 270 on to the second rail. cab 900, a frontside tail grap 270 on the Toyota Box, half cab on the down bar, and frontside 1080 to a backside 1080 with 90.25 points. The Park City-local also has a cab double-cork 1260 on lockdown.

It s been a heavy couple of weeks for Kotsenburg having competed in slopestyle and big air at the Winter X Games last week before heading straight to Vermont. Having made the finals, he finished fifth in slopestyle at the X Games. Now the rookie heads back to Utah to ride powder with his friends, before heading out to the U.S. Open in March.

Totino's Field Notes

Totino's Field Notes - Road to the 2010 US Open of Snowboarding. It's been an interesting year for Totino's team riders Danny Davis and Mason Aguirre. After starting strong in the Fall and early season, with great contest results at the Totino's Open in Breckenridge, both riders suffered injuries. Danny is out for the year, but Mason recently came back and plans to throw down at next week's US Open of Snowboarding in Stratton, VT.
