Ryan Faulk is the Head Chef in the kitchen, but he
does most of his slicing and dicing on the hill.If you live anywhere outside of the Pacific Northwest, you re probably tanning at the beach, lounging in lawn chairs and turning up the air conditioning in your car while you sit in traffic. Out in Oregon though, we re knee deep in winter; the season has been off to a stormy start, with weather systems interspersed between nice, sunny days and snow dumping at Mount Hood as recently as June 16th. While we are looking forward to the onslaught of perfect, bluebird days that are just around the corner, you can t be bummed when the inches of snow are still stackin up on the hill.
In the middle of all of this, Windells Session 1 just finished up and it was full of good boardin , good skatin and good buddies. All of the improvements that we have added down at camp finally were opened to the first excited campers of the summer season: double trampolines in BOB, the dryslope rail garden and of course, the 25,000 square foot Concrete Jungle skatepark, kept campers running amuck post-riding, definitely having the time of their lives.
Nick Visconti, Tim Humphreys and the Tahoe Dangerzone crew were at camp, as well, sessioning the park with campers on the sunny days and taking advantage of some of the wetter moments with camper games like Nick and Tim s Mud n Blood Challenge, a muddy footrace across the bmx course where the fastest and muddiest earned prizes. Johnny Lazzareschi has taken up residence at camp and was getting easy in the park all week and Austin Hironaka has pulled out his signature snowshorts, so even with a little snow, summer s kicking off.
