Weekly 7 - February 8, 2010

greg bretz
Lost of snowboarding contest action this week between the Canadian Open, Dew Tour, and Banked Slalom, all offering three versions of the nature of snowboarding competition. TV glitz, cold and off camera and an old-fashioned old timers that has them all beat.

ride snowboards represent at sia
SIA - last week BNQT was in Denver covering all the goodness in at SIA. We saw some people, product and lots of party time, though we missed the train up to Aspen for Winter X 14 - oh well.

davi millsaps

Supercross - Davi Millsaps and Josh Hill who took first and second on Saturday night in San Diego, CA at the fifth AMA Supercross race of the season. This is the first win of the season for 21-year-old Davi who passed rider Nick Way at the beginning of the 20-lap race and remained in the lead for the rest of the race. The first place win helped Davi move up to forth in the overall point standings with 82 points.

kevin pearce
Danny and Kevin on the mend.

After weeks of close coverage and overwhelming concern and prayers, both Danny Davis and Kevin Pearce are faring better. Each have been transferred out of their respective Utah hospitals to start the long road to rehabilitation in earnest. God speed on continued rapid recovery.

kiteboarder stephen schaffer - rip
Kiteboarder Killed by Sharks - Surfers have long feared the shadows that lie beneath, but riding atop the water seemingly offers one a safer route. Not so for Stephen Schaffer who was attacked by up to three sharks while kiteboarding last week in Florida. A lifeguard brought Schaffer to shore but he later died at a nearby hospital

red ledge
Nike 6.0 Launches Red Ledge - with all the hype for next week's Olympic games taking over Vancouver, Nike 6.0 is doing something for the little guy by bringing the legendary red ledge into the the park at Mt Seymour to give the local shreds something to take out their angst on.

nyjah houston
ASR - ASR, Class and Crossroads all went down last week in San Diego where Nyjah Hustan won the skateboarding competition and the industry got another dose of action sports awesomeness just in time for spring.

Totino\'s Field Notes

Totino's Field Notes

Totino's Field Notes - Road to the 2010 US Open of Snowboarding. It's been an interesting year for Totino's team riders Danny Davis and Mason Aguirre. After starting strong in the Fall and early season, with great contest results at the Totino's Open in Breckenridge, both riders suffered injuries. Danny is out for the year, but Mason recently came back and plans to throw down at next week's US Open of Snowboarding in Stratton, VT.
