Greg Long Wins Eddie Aikau

Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau

Waimea Bay did not disappoint, providing invitees with 20-30 foot waves for the taking. The tournament is held in honor of lifeguard and big wave surfer Eddie Aikau and thus requires waves to be at least 20 feet high in order for the event to run. At the end of the day it was Greg Long who claimed the $55,000 prize and Roman Navarro was unanimously declared the winner of the Monster Drop Award, both surfers were also the only two to score 100-point waves (the second and third ever in the 25 year history of the competition).

Shaun White and Kelly Clark Win Copper Grand Prix

The top snowboarders gathered in Copper Mountain, Colorado this weekend for the first of three stops on the 2010 Grand Prix Tour. The competition was short and sweet, with Saturday's event only lasting a whopping two hours. In the end Shaun and Kelly came out on top followed by Louie Vito and Gretchen Bleiler. The Grand Prix Tour picks up again in January with its next stop in Mammoth, California followed by Park City, Utah.

Dennis Enarson - getting paid.

King of the Animal House won by Dennis Enarson

Dave Mirra celebrated another great year of BMX with 16 invitees to his King of the Animal House in Greenville, North Carolina. First place winner Dennis Enarson took home a 2009 Suburu WRX and the envy of Ryan Nyquist and Craig Mast who came in second and third.

Chanel or DC? You decide...

Chanel Sends DC a "Cease and Desist" Order

Though most would not consider action sports to be considered high fashion, the folks over at Chanel seemed increasing threatened by the similarities between its classic double "C" logo and that of skateboard shoe manufacturer DC and sent them a Cease and Desist order this week. The argument exists because Chanel too makes items such as wallets and snowboards and feels consumers might confuse the two brands due to logo similarities. Though seemingly laughable, the Quiksilver higher-ups are taking steps to avoid further conflict. Read the full story here.
