The dog days of August are winding down, yet plenty of action took place this past week to keep our summer spirits high. The highly anticipated debut of Street League took center stage in many ways, yet Rob Dyrdek's event wasn't the only place prize money was being delivered.

Street League Debuts - After a long summer of wait, and a month of practice sessions, demo reels and unending hype, Street League hit the arena circuit at the Jobing.com Center in Phoenix, AZ. Initial reports look good for the events future. Nyjah Huston took home the inaugural $150,000 first place. Instant Scoring was a success and a new era of skateboarding fandom has been created.
ASA MegaRamp - The Mega Ramp is no longer a Bo Burnquist backyard diversion or an X Games invite only club. The ASA Mega Ramp contest has made the feature accessible to a whole new group of athletes who are young and hungry. No one proved that more this past week that 15 year old Brett Banasiewicz who took top honors.
Billabong Pro Begins - while the Billabong Pro has been on hold in Tahiti ASP fans have been anxiously consuming their daily reports at work, home and in school Finally on August 30 the event began in earnest. For the of ongoing event go here.
Ryan Dungey now at number 1.
Dungey Dominates - At Southwick in Massachusetts Ryan Dungey claimed his first out door motocross championship and his 10th straight 2-01- circuit victory by outlasting a solid effort by Mike Alessi and Matt Goerke. Dungey has been unstop[able for over a year and now holds the coveted title of Supercross and Outdoor Moto champion.

Hurricane Season awakes - the East coast Hurricane season lit up last week with the arrival of Danielle. Although a modest storm as a Category 1, surfers from the Carolinas to Maine were welcoming the warm summer waters and clean south east groundswell lines. The best part? Two more systems are on the move via hurricane Earl and Tropical Storm Fiona.

Dylan Rieder Seven Minutes Skate Part - Gravis skate team rider Dyaln Rieder released the part to Gravis's upcoming DVD on the web this past week and blew minds. Really nothing to explain that the video doesn't say so watch it here.

Rallycross comes to America - The European discipline of Rallycross came to New Jersey last week for the first time. Among the participants was Travis Pastrana who acknowledged the enthusiasm of the crowd, "I could literally hear the fans cheering from inside my car!"
