Luke Haddock is a mainstay of the East Coast snowboard community. A member of the next generation of Vermont shreds, Luke is well known among his friends as being goofy, friendly, and possessing a dirt-style charm. Luke is always smiling, always down to hang with or help out a friend, and is a hard-working, dedicated snowboarder, whether he's filming, competing, or just riding with his homies. On hill and off, Luke s an all-around awesome guy.
Word spread quickly in the wee hours of Sunday morning, before celebrations after the Queen City Sessions had finished up for the night, that Luke had been the victim of a random mugging after leaving a party. Luke was attacked by two men, stabbed in his chest and beaten with a gun. Miraculously, Luke was found and taken to the hospital, where he was patched up, his lung was re-inflated, and he received some staples to put everything back together.
Luke has a lot of people in Vermont that care about him, and his hospital room was packed with visitors Sunday. He's now at home, getting better, and healing up in time for Killington's Rails to Riches. Luke is in remarkably high spirits for a person that went through such an awful experience, but for those that know Luke, his attitude isn't surprising, it's just how Luke is.
We are all lucky that Luke is safe and is recovering. Can't say that enough. If you know Luke, send him some love and good vibes on facebook, he'll likely be spending some time on there while he gets better. If you don't know him, I'm sure he would be stoked to hear from you, too, especially if you are a babe. Luke will have a pretty badass scar once he's all healed up, and tons of street cred, not that he didn't have enough before.
So much love to you, Luke. Everyone out East can't wait to take runs with you in a few weeks, so get better fast! Luke is legend!
