Travis Hanson captures top honors in 2011 Sno*Drift Rally

January 31, 2011 Atlanta, MI Michigan native Travis Hanson, partnered by his co-driver and father Terry, made history

while taking their 1st overall victory in a RallyCar National Championship event. The father-son team piloted their Super Production

class, Subaru Impreza STi through incredibly slick conditions at the Sno*Drift Rally en route to a dominant victory over X Games

champion and Subaru team driver Dave Mirra.

Hanson secured a place in American motorsports history by being the first-ever Super Production class driver to win a National

Rally America event. More significantly, Hanson managed to achieve this impressive victory against factory-backed teams, as a

privateer with a limited budget.

Hanson s impressive win, sees the team leading the 2011 RallyCar championship and makes them an early favorite to grab a coveted

slot in this summer s X Games 17 event held in Los Angeles, California. This is quite an achievement given that the Hansons are a

small, privateer team with a car that gives up considerable performance advantages to its higher powered, open classed adversaries.

This was a weekend of firsts, said Hanson. It was the first time we were able to lead a rally, racing first on the road. Sno*Drift

isn t a rally you can just fight for, but rather learned to let the rally come to me. This philosophy seemed to work flawlessly,

marking the young driver s first ever overall podium. For my first time with top honors, I am so happy to have accomplished it here

at my home event, which remains my favorite in the series. At the awards ceremony the team received a standing ovation and was

mentioned as joining multiple legends in the sport that have taken overall wins in production cars, such as John Buffum, Tim O Neil

and Doug Shepard, all of whom were in attendance at the race.

Next up on the schedule for the team will be the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, running February 25-26 in Salem, Missouri. Hundred

Acre Wood is another rally that I have had success with. It is a very fast event with conditions that can range from snow and ice to

mud and dirt, and will truly challenge us if we re to follow up our Sno*Drift victory with a similar result.
