Moss Halladay. Self portrait in sepia.
Moss Halladay is not only a wicked snowboarder, he's a man about the town, who's not content to spend all of his days soaking in the dude-centric mountain zone. Moss splits his time between the white, snowy north, where he can head into the backcountry and ride deep lines and cliff drops, and sunny, glamorous Southern California, where he gets his dose of city-livin': the sights, the food, the ladies, and the fact that there are places open past 10pm at night.
Moss just headed to LA to get his bearings after spending the summer at Mount Hood, coaching at Windells Snowboard Camp. He was busy working on contracts and other business-y stuff yesterday, so I got to talk to him on facebook and he gave me his Top 5 Things to do in LA. This is a brief and handy guide if you ever need to get out of the mountains for a minute, yourself.

Not LA. Moss in the mountains.
1. Since I'm a snowboarder, naturally I love trying to surf. The key word is "try." Usually, I go out with Trevor Jacob and we get barreled...most of the time I get barreled into the sand and almost drown...but we go for it.

2. One of the many things you learn when you're into skiing or snowboarding is that mountain towns are pretty lame for partying... well at least with girls. So, my number 2 thing to do in L.A. is to party in Hollywood. Maybe there is something nice about not seeing the same clowns trying to fight for the one girl in the local bar. If you like dancing all night, try it out. You can find me dancing non stop! I always enjoy making my way to Beauty Bar--there hardly is a line, the feel is more like a Hipster type hangout, and it is in a beauty salon..what more do you need? Wonderland is def one of my favorite places to go, too: non stop dancing, hot girls, and great music.

Dinner and a party in Portland.
3. Throughout the years, I have realized I only spend money consistently on a few things. Usually most of it goes towards gas and food...not very exciting. I also have realized when I'm in L.A. both of these habits sky rocket. Cooking food is an option, but there are so many good places to eat out (like Kabuki Sushi). Sorry no drugs, hookers or anything remotely exciting, but i will eat the shit out of some In 'n Out!
4. Late night movies are one of the best things to do in L.A. Movies are better at night because there are less people around watching them and there is hardly any traffic at 3 am. Last night, i tried to get all my girlfriends to come out, but it ended up just being Paul Gemignani and myself. Sounds like I need to work on some stuff...haha.

5. Another very cool thing about L.A., is that lots of girls seem to wanna live there. I dunno if its the good weather or just cause I live here, but they sure are around. I know I talk a lot about girls, but why wouldn't I when there are some of the hottest women in the world living all around me. If you're a guy and you like girls, [I'm] pretty convinced you will be into L.A. If you're not, man, you got some serious issues!
You think I talk a lot about girls, but just spend your summer at Mt. Hood and you will see why I love L.A.

Ladies love Moss Halladay.
