Anyone who knows a thing or two about fitness knows that cardio is the key to lasting through a workout, a surf session, motocross race, you name it. Without it, you’re pretty much bound for injury, exhaustion or getting ragged on from your buddies because you’re the lagger in the group. Here are the top 5 fitness workouts we discovered at the Jamba Juice Fit 'N Fruitful Fitness Expo that combines cardio, strength training and everything in between to get you in action sports shape…no gym required!

5) After fueling up on some delicious organic steel cut oatmeal on Jamba Juice’s breakfast menu, we got right to work on some…hoolahoops. Hoopnotica to be exact—weighted hula hooping created to get kids, teens, adults and elderly and everyone in between up and shaking their hips, arms and working on those core muscles. We figure action sports, hula-hooping, if it gets us to work on the muscles we need to land that McTwist then we’ll try it!
4) Band geeks may have gotten a bad rap in high school, but Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom have made drumming a hot, effective way to firm up that core and get our heart rates working hard. The two former drummer/dancer/athletes have invented a new way to use drum sticks which they coined as "Pound Rockout Workout". By fusing music, creativity and innovation, Kirsten and Cristina have designed weighted drumsticks that intensify workouts that give drastic results.
3) Hands down the most intense, muscle burning and sweat bucket workout of the day was Justin Rubin and Anja Garcia’s ‘ViPR’ workout which stands for Vitality Performance and Reconditioning. Justin and Anja are both Equinox trainers who have utilized the same rubber tube that the armed forces use for conditioning as a way for the average Joe to get a full body work out. These weighted rubber tubes come in 4kg and 6kg options, seemed unassuming on the floor. But after just 20 minutes of lifting, shoving, swinging, pushing these tubes around, I pretty had several different muscle groups burning and my shirt was soaked. This is no joke and incredibly effective at the same time.
2) Here at BNQT we’re a fan of Parkour—but it has to be done right. There are a bunch of rad videos online and a few miserable fails that make us cringe thinking about it. With Gabriel Nunez and Tempest Freerunning Academy, the proper techniques, methods and tools are provided to help you get down the basics before you go out there and flail your body at some concrete ledge with a 15-foot drop. Freerunning is an awesome, cost-effective, minimalist way to get a whole body work out in that will impress some ladies and freak others out.
1) And the number one way to get into action sports shape is none other than getting on that surfboard…indoors. A unique surfing fitness workout called ‘SurfSET’ created by a former professional hockey player Mike Hartwick, enables you to simulate paddling, hanging heels, surf sit up, side squat, and reverse drop knee on a surfboard contraption that can be used in your living room, garage, or backyard on those flat days. Surfing gives you that lean, toned physique and develops your cardiovascular system
