MTB Photographer/videographer Yonathan Avara opens up the bag of goods. Yoni is one of the most talented guys in the business.

1) All-Terrain Shoes- ""When Im not on my bike, Im in the mud. Comfortable, dry feet keep me working all day. I use Lowe Gore-Tex whatevers.""

2) Helmet- ""Im a rider first, photographer/videographer second. In my opinion, its a super-important trait in any sport- know what youre shooting. As a rider, I know what Im looking for in a shot, be it video or photo. Thats why I like to keep it real- no fancy photoshopn of my pictures, and very little slow-motion and other effects in my videos.""

3) Photo Camera- ""I use a Nikon D50 to shoot all my photos. Instead of a fish-eye, I use a 10mm superwide (aspherical) lens. I think it provides a different look to my photos compared to others using fisheyes. Im a lighting junkie and I love natural light photography, but I also use remote flashes. I think they are essential in action-type photography, since stock on-camera flashes only work up close and do not produce good contrast and shawdows.

4) Plastic Bike- ""Its very handy when discussing tricks or lines with the rider. We use it to demonstrate. It gets rid of time-consuming explanations when I dont understand what the rider wants to do.""

5) Mini DV Tapes- ""Cant get enough of them.""

6) Video Camera- ""I use a Sony HDR-FX1. I was looking to get back into video for a while and I was influenced by Ryan [Denehy] to go HD. I made the jump to HD because the extra resolution is so worth it. The camera is a true workhorse... full manual control, plus excellent low-light performance which is really important when shooting at night or in dark woods. Its very ergonomic too with handle zoom/record buttons, plus an LCD sitting at the top of the camera instead of the side. It really feels like Sony custom built this camera for shooting action sports.""

7) MP3 Player- ""I employ a three-year-old, one-gig I-River to provide me with 250 tracks to sample when Im traveling. Music is very important to me and i enjoy listening to new stuff. I sometimes listen to music while Im taking photos and shooting video.""

8) Zip Ties- ""I use them everywhere since I get them for free. Theres always something that needs to be tied together. Its less messy than tape. I usually use them when I need to hang a remote flash off a branch, plus theres always uses for them on the bike.""

9) Knife- ""When things get gully, theres always something I need to cut open or stab."
