brings along on MTB street filming missions. Learn from a master.
1) Sony A1U-
When youre getting chased by security guards and dodging cars you need
a small camera that can take a beating. Despite its small size, the
video quality is amazing, and with the Azden shotgun mic we can do
interviews on the fly. This is the ultimate camera for shooting street
riding in NYC.
2) Eastern Front Stickers- You can never have too many stickers. We post em up in the subway and give them to all the groms.
3) The Big Deal DVD-
Just like stickers, you can never have too many DVDs to hand out. These
really come in handy with cops, security guards, and landlords. The
second you hand over a professionally-done DVD they stop treating you
like a criminal... and if youre lucky you get to finish filming before
getting kicked out.
4) Nikon SS Rover- You always need to
know what time it is. Whether youre coordinating a shoot or trying to
catch the express train uptown, time is of the essence. The SS Rover is
solid titanium and given what Ive put this one through, its probably
bombproof.
5) Extra Tape, Batteries, and Filters- There
are only a few places where you can still get Super 8mm film
cartridges, so its good to keep some extras on hand. A good range of
filters is always important.... dialing in your light makes all the
difference.
6) New Era 5950
7) Lake ""Station"" Shoes-
Lake is one of the only companies making mountain bike-specific shoes
right now. These are a custom cartoon camouflage edition that youll
never see in stores. We designed the pattern and custom painted each
pair.
8) Super 8mm Camera- I couldnt tell you who makes
this or how old it is. Ive never seen an 8mm camera that wasnt fewer
than 15 years old. The style of footage you get out of this is unreal
and the motors scream when you pull the trigger."
