And so it begins again. A few weeks ago Chad Harp from Toyota invited us on a road trip from LA to Breckenridge for the first stop of the winter Dew Tour. We hit several spots in between and generally had a fantastic time. This is the type of trip that had the potential to be a one-time thing given current marketing budgets at car companies. Luckily he called me last week inviting me to participate in another trip, this time from Burlington to Mt Snow, Vermont. Awesome. I invited BNQT collaborator Ryan Denehy along for the ride.

On the docket for day one was Jay Peak, a rugged northern Vermont mountain that I had yet to experience despite me living in Vermont for two years. We had high expectations but were met with some serious freezing rain and icy conditions. It was rough even for the east coast. Take a looksy at what I’m talking about.

Day two found us at Stowe where we had the best day of the trip thus far. Good conditions and kick ass locals made for a near perfect day of east coast shredding. A week or so ago I got in touch with Stowe’s Communications Director Jeff Wise and told him we were looking to shoot with some locals and maybe have someone show us around the mountain. Jeff delivered in a major way, he set us up with former pro snowboarder and current Mt Mansfield Snowboard Club coach Mike Slaughter and his protégé Charlie Shea. These two took us to the park where we met up with two other local shredders Sam Lukens and Chris Lang. Take a look.

After the session Mike sat down to talk.
After shooting with these fellas a local ski academy kid showed us around the mountain for a few hours. I, for the life of me, can’t remember his name which is lame of me because he was one of the raddest most polite 15 year olds I have ever met. And did I mention he rips? I had a feeling he was getting bored with us after a while but he didn’t show it. Props to you for showing us old folks a good time and props to Stowe for treating us like kings

After a kick ass day at Stowe we packed up our shit and headed for Killington. The PR people there only set aside two tickets so one of us was lucky enough to forgo the absolutely miserable conditions and chill inside the lodge. Seriously, what’s the deal with 25 degrees and rain? No thanks. I did some work in the lodge while the other two guys tried to make the best of it. They did mention that The Stash park set up by Burton would have been amazing had it not been covered in a sheet of ice.

So that’s it so far. We now find ourselves at the base of Mt. Snow awaiting the second Dew Tour stop. Freezing rain turned to massive snowflakes not two hours ago so I’m keeping my fingers crossed for a decent day tomorrow. Stay tuned for coverage of men’s and women’s snowboard slopestyle and men’s ski pipe prelims coming at you tomorrow.
