Stewart at St. Louis Supercross
Despite Stewarts mishap with the law and his eight-race winless streak, James Stewart made quite the comeback at the Monster Energy AMA Supercross St. Louis. Stewart was stoked on the win
It s been a while since I have been up here, said Stewart. This feels great, and I am really happy for the team, who has been behind me 100% this year.
Stewart had to battle it out against Rockstar/ Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey and Hart & Huntington/ Dodge Motorsports' Ivan Tedesco; but by lap three Stewart managed to extend his lead.
After third place rider Chad Reed landed off course, points leader, Ryan Villopoto was able to take his spot. I ll take a third place finish; it is much better than last year, said Villopoto, who suffered a season-ending injury last year in St. Louis. I am looking forward to going to my hometown race next weekend in Seattle.
The Supercross Lite race was just as hectic in the first few laps; Justin Barcia had to push his way past Ryan Sipes in laps 2 and 3. However, once making the final pass Barcia was able to ride 12 perfect laps for the win.
Tonight was crazy, said Barcia. I know that this championship is coming down to the wire, and I look forward to the final race in Las Vegas. It wasn t easy out there tonight. (Ryan) Sipes passed me out there, but I stayed focused and re-passed him.
