Tyson Black's friends came to his rescue after 23
scary minutes.Earlier this year, we warned about severe avalanche danger in Utah, and it's looking like we were right on the money. Snowmobiler Tyson Black was trapped under an avalanche for 23 horrifying minutes until his friends were able to find and rescue him. Black was snowmobiling with a group of friends on Sunday when he unintentionally triggered an avalanche. His friend, Bronson Butler, was filming the run on his phone and managed to record the entire incident. The group was aware of the risk but didn't think they were in danger. “I just really couldn’t believe it was actually happening to us. I was just thinking we were invincible, nothing is going to happen to us and if it does slide, we’ll outrun it,” Butler said.
Thanks to Butler and the group's quick thinking, they were able to rescue Black form under 10 feet of snow. Since Black wasn't wearing an avalanche beacon, it took the group 20 minutes to locate him, and then another 20 minutes to completely remove him from the snow. Black's snowmobile and helmet created an air pocket that allowed him to breathe. Luckily, Black did not sustain any serious injuries from the accident.
