El Black Box

This is an interesting little gadget. Measuring distance, altitude, rotations, and speed via a GPS link, this little "flight recorder" as analogized by CNN, looks to be just the fix for "extreme-sports athletes" looking to "quantify a wicked ride."

Wicked indeed.

I suppose this thing is pretty cool, if you're left-brained anyway. I admit I can see a large swath of number-crunching extremists getting off on this technology. Bar room bragging about barometric pressure followed by intense debate over wether that 540 was really just a 360 revert - "Look man, it says 540 right there on the screen!"

Between your phone, ipod, peeps and now boarding black box, I wonder where you're going to fit your Power Bar?
