Salt Lake City was once home to NBA s Karl The Mail Man Malone. The nickname was given to him because he always delivered. Today was day one of the Dew Tour conveniently located under the same roof where The Mail Man himself left behind a legacy. The skaters in the preliminary round where no different than Mr. Malone, as they kept delivering trick after trick. I will leave behind the far-fetched stretch of a basketball analogy to share with you some of the many highlights and final results from the skate park prelims.

Adam Dyet is a Salt Lake City local. It was no surprise to see so many friends and family come out to watch their local pro. Halfway through the prelims, and after killing it with his many signature technical tricks, Adam was spotted throwing up off of the back deck of the street course. Afterward, he regained his health faster than a Mortal Kombat character when starting a new round and landed himself in third place. Other local spotlight, Christian Sereika (also backed by friends and family) gave it his all but unfortunately will not be advancing into the finals.

Greg Lutzka currently sits in first place. He was kind enough to pose for a photo for me, but unfortunately I was so blown away by his bag of tricks and flawless style, that I completely forgot to turn down my flash which resulted in a very powerful (almost celestial) glow of light illuminating his entire body. I found this to be quite serendipitous as it served him well for shining throughout the whole day.

Everyone loves Paul Rodriguez or P-Rod as I he to call him. Ya, only I call him that. It s kind of this thing we have ever since I awkwardly pointed out to him that I was wearing his signature P-Rod shoe. Anyways, he killed it as always, switching it up more than the on-sight food/snack service provided by Dew Tour officials, which consisted of the obvious Mountain Dew and Matador by Jack Links beef jerky.
Tyler Hendley killed the stair set with a lofty backside flip and 360 flip. He skated consistently landing pretty much every trick he tried. It all paid off when he noticed his name in the second place slot.

Somewhat of a surprise was that there existed an obvious age difference amongst competitors. Carlos De Andrade proved that age can work to your advantage as he skated harder and faster than most, landing him a comfy third place spot.
Day one is going to be hard to beat, and it was only the prelims. So many tricks went down that I can t even imagine what we will see on Saturday when the skate park finals go down. Be sure to check back daily for more updates from the Dew Tour in Salt Lake City. Rumor has it that Karl Malone might show up and deliver a letter challenging my new friend P-Rod to a game of skate.
