Thanks to Simon Anderson we now have the "Thruster"
design
The Australian surfer, board shaper, and creator of the "Thruster" design (three equal sized fins)- Simon Anderson has joined the roster for the 2011 Surfers' Hall of Fame Inductees. Anderson will join George Downing, Taylor Knox and Chuck Linnen August 5th as they add their hand and footprints to the cement in front of Huntington Surf & Sport.
Simon Anderson was brought up in Sydney where, in the '70s he began competing in events like Bells Beach Classics and Pipeline Masters. Due to Anderson's size, over six feet tall, the twin-fin design just wasn't working for him. Thus the birth of the Thruster.
Surfers Hall of Fame founder Aaron Pai explains the significance of Anderson's design What Steve Jobs (CEO of Apple) and the iPhone and iPad have done for the World, Simon Anderson and the Thruster have done for the Sport of Surfing. Just as the iPhone and iPad revolutionized consumer technology; the Thruster revolutionized and advanced our Sport of Surfing!
