Each year Shaun White competes in the Winter X Games, multiple records tend to be set.
This year was no different, as White s first run performance led off with a record-setting 23-feet of air off the pipe, followed by a 180 double cork, a 540 stalefish, a double McTwist and an alley-oop rodeo. That run scored him a 95.33 clinching his record third gold in Men s Snowboard SuperPipe.
The double McTwist that helped seal his victory had been a nemesis during practice for White. But his ability to stick it in his first run propelled him to the victory.
I am pumped to have made that first run as that trick is a beast of its own, White said. It feels good, I am really excited.
Switzerland's Iouri Podladtchikov was the silver medal winner with a best score of 93.66 and Japan's Kazuhiro Kokubo took the bronze with a top score of 91.00.

Both competitors along with White will represent their countries in the upcoming Winter Olympics.
I am excited to be headed to the Olympics with these guys, White said of his fellow medal winners. Its good company to be in. Everyone here killed it tonight.

The Snowboard SuperPipe competition is arguably one of the most exciting competitions in the world. The 567-foot long, 22-foot deep U-shaped SuperPipe is 66 feet from lip-to-lip with a pitch of 18 degrees. This world-class pipe allows for maximum amplitude and speed, giving the riders space to perfect progressive tricks, like the double cork.
