He’s a glorified flatground champ, king of obscure trickery and the bearded human Sasquatch otherwise known as Chris Haslam. He’s been killing it for years now…from his early days on Deca to his Cheese and Crackers domination, Haslam has put out some seriously heavy footage during his relatively short career.
Here’s a look back at some of Haslam’s video parts through the years.
Big Guns
Big Guns was a video that pretty much nobody saw and I personally never heard of until the dawn of Youtube. Whoever put this thing out had some random footage of a pre beard and hair Haslam and gave him a short part. Shaved head, track pants, a bit sketchy, but still capable of implementing the tech treachery he quickly grew into.
Deca, 2nd To None, 2001
The short-lived brand, Deca, housed a ton of greats for a while. Daewon, Shiloh Greathouse, Marcus McBride JB Gillet and more. On the team was a then unknown kid named Chris Haslam. With big and cargo shorts, a young Haslam put down an impressive part full of innovative technical stuff, traditional rail goods and more. Switch Front Feebles, all kinds of Kickflipping out of boardslides and a bunch of warehouse rigged equipment skating.
Digital 9, 2003
Here’s a part that features a bit of Chris during his fresh to hesh phase. In this glorified Motley Crue “Girls, Girls, Girls” montage Chris handles a mess a burliness. Switch Feeble, Big Backlips and a couple proper Bigpsin Flip Frontboards.
Almost Round Three, 2004
In Chris’ Round Three part he continued to put down that which is weird, gnarly and always innovative. Haslam skates like no one else and this part mixed the traditional with stuff that nobody else is doing. Kickflp Switch Stance Manual, Varial Kickflip Smith down a rail, Front Board Hardflip out, Wallride Nollie Late-flip out and plenty more. Amazing part, sealed with a Kickflip Backsmith down Hollywood High.
Almost Cheese and Crackers, 2006
Alongside Daewon, his Almost teammate, Chris’s part in Cheese and Crackers is one of the more insane things we’ve seen in the last decade. Insane transition skills are executed throughout with Switch Crailslides, Rock Kickflip Fakies and more party tricks than your feeble mind could have concocted on an enlightened mushroom trip. Creativity, sheer skill and a loud silencing of haters for years to come.
Globe United By Fate, 2007
Innovative lines, a creative approach to weird spots you’ve never seen, Haslam put out a solid part for his shoe sponsor, Globe. The large bearded Haslam mixes tech moves with large spots, manual tricks, gaps and more. Switch Frontside 180 Front Crooks and a large handicap ramp Kickflip Hippy Jump for an ender.
