It’s hard to believe, but it’s been over a decade now that Mikey Taylor has been on the scene. From his early days on City Stars, to Dyrdek’s short-lived Seek Skateboards, to his permanent abduction at Alien Workshop, Mikey has continued to hustle when it comes to coverage.
And that coverage includes some of the most innovative and overlooked video parts in the recent years.
Have a look back at some of our favorite parts from Mikey Taylor.
Logic 6, 2000
In 2000, Logic 6 dropped featuring a full part from a then completely unheard of kid named Mikey Taylor. Pint-sized and young as hell, Mikey showcased an impressive part with fearless handrail attacks, proper lines and effortless board control. If you’ve forgotten just how not afraid Mikey is, refer to his last trick. An amazing part that set the stage for a career to come.
City Stars Street Cinema, 2001
Mikey’s second full part came in 2001’s Street Cinema. A young faced Mikey Taylor once rode for the same outfit as P. Rod, Spanky and Devine Calloway under the watchful eye of Kareem Campbell. Still so young but grown a few inches, Mikey hit some large rails, powered through smooth, ultra tech lines and more or less showed the world that a new kid with some serious board control was on the scene.
Transworld In Bloom, 2002
Still backing City Stars, just a year later Mikey Taylor dropped a full part in Transworld’s classic film, In Bloom. The legendary Kareem Campbell talks up Mikey via Voice Over, expressing just how important the kid is to the future of skating. He couldn’t have been more prophetic. Young faced with now comfortable tall-guy steez, Mikey puts it down hard. Giant handrail tricks, tech ledge lines and more. Full control, even when stepping to the largest of rails out there.
DVS Skate More, 2005
Before Etnies and before where he is now, at DC, Mikey Taylor was part of the DVS family. Setting things off with a spanning rail crooked grind, Mikey gets some Visa footage in with some Barci spots, awesome, highly controlled lines and plenty more eye candy. His last line is still bananas. 180 switch Crooks, push a bit, Front Shuv Front Crooks.
Transworld A Time To Shine, 2006
Shortly after his full part in Skate More, Mikey was featured in a shared part with his homies P. rod and Jereme Rogers in Transworld’s A Time To Shine. Some handrail hits, a sick line or two and a little bit more thrown into the mix. Great quick fix for any MT fan.
Alien Workshop Mindfield, 2009
Mikey’s most recent part to date was in the epic full length Workshop film, Mindfield. Mikey skates unique spots and skates much differently than he ever has before. Adding originality and diversity to his control and enormous bag of tricks, Mikey compiles rad lines and rarely seen stuff like a Smith to Front Tailslide on a flat rail.
