Quiksilver has been riding the economic wave lately, which hasn't been all that smooth. But that hasn't prevented the creative minds at Quik from working hard and delivering some pretty cool shit.
Recently as part of a promotion for Quik's skate team video, Roam Australia 4, the web maestros and flash developers at Quiksilver assembled Tony Hawk, Alex Olsen, Reese Forbes, Kyle Leeper and Danny Garcia to collaborate in a green screen experiment worthy of Dreamworks imagination.
Called "The Spot," the 3 minute montage has the skaters breaking out of the embedded video player and respective profile pictures to actually skate throughout the homepage of the site. With each grind, frontside air and axle stall, the team disassembles the wireframe of the site. As the destruction occurs, more and more features become available to skate.
Smith grinds on the nav bar, wallrides on the background graphic and disasters on a pink inset image turned mini-ramp are just a few of the lines taken by the team.
No doubt a mind blowingly clever execution, we can only imagine the laughs the flash developers had putting this whole thing together.
We are totally stoked. Props to Quik for keeping the creative juices flowing despite these "tough economic times."
Bravo!
