Next X is a new Disney XD series that premiered last night on basic cable, in collaboration with ESPN. Next X pairs rising amateurs from the 12 and under set with veteran action sports pros for training sessions at Camp Woodward. On the skate side, watch for appearances by Chris Cole, Billy Marks, and Lincoln Ueda, each paired with a young up-and-comer. SeattlePI.com has a quick story today about my young friend Mitchie Brusco: In his Next X appearance, Brusco learns Miller flips on vert with Ueda as his mentor. 9-year-old Tom Schaar and 11-year-old Micah Wu will be the other featured skate ams.
The series will also feature appearances by BMX pros Van Homan and Scotty Cranmer. Scotty's little brother, 11 year-old Matty will be featured on the show, as will 12 year-old Ian Bradley. The mini-episodes built towards a tie-in at the actual X Games 15 event, and will conclude with a half-hour special featuring the young athletes at X Games.
You can watch the mini-episodes online at DisneyXD.com. Episode 1, introducing each of the young athletes, is online now.
