Due to the popularity of the website, a new wakeskate magazine came out on the scene called La Sewer and was distributed for the first time at Surf Expo. This full glossy mag is produced by the Homeless Crew and basically features a bunch of wakeskaters landing some bangers. It's full of photos, offers a mind-blowing interview of wakeboard photographer Rodrigo Donoso, and has a siiiick photo of Aron Gore doing a BS noseblunt shuv on the front. It also shows a lot of what's happening on the West Coast in the whole wakeskate scene. Although there were only 1,000 copies printed this time around, there will be 5,000 copies of a new issue printed next month. Show your support by buying a LURKER shirt through contact@lasewer.com.

On another note- La Sewer is taking nominations for "Winch Driver of the Year". I spent Thanksgiving break surfing down in So. Cal with winch driver Brandon "Funky" Malm. Here is an interesting conversation that has nothing to do with wakeskating which he later revealed to me (which may or may not be true):

THE SCENE: Funk, sitting in a hot tub with a dad at an oceanfront hotel on Pismo Beach.
Dad: So what are you down here for?
Funk: Well, I'm trafficking 1,000 lbs. of weed from Humboldt Co. to Columbia and I'm also a hired assasin down here to kill Arnold Schwarzenagger.
Dad: What do you do for a living?
Funk: Well, I make action sports movies and help edit a wakeskate magazine (then he goes off talking about La Sewer)
Dad: Wow, do you know Ryan Schekler?
Funk: Well, I don't know him know him, I met him before and he's from my area in so. cal, but that's about it.
Dad: Really?!? My teenage daughters are in love with Ryan, let me call them down here, they'd love to meet you!
(Dad on the cell phone calls his daughters and tells them that he's in the hot tub with Funk, who knows Ryan Schekler)
Daughters come down, acting very shy
Dad: Do you know who this is? This is Brandon, he knows Ryan Schekler!
Daughters: Really?!? We LOVE Ryan Schekler, he's so hot! He's looking for a good girlfriend, someone who will be his wife one day!
Dad: You know what Brandon told me about Ryan? That he got a nose job and a ton of plastic surgery done.
Daughters: Nuh-uh, no way!
Dad: Yeah.
I don't know what happened after that (I was surfing when all of this went down) but I know that the dad was looking for Funk to get an autographed copy of La Sewer. However, I wasn't giving up my issue.
