Round seven of the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship took off again this Saturday at the Honda Motocross National from Spring Creek MX.
It was an unseasonably cool day in Millville on raceday. Temps did not get much warmer than the 70s by afternoon but a beautifully groomed track made for some awesome racing.

Ryan Dungey
Millville has one of the longest start straights on the circuit and rounding the corner in the first turn was Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Ryan Dungey. Millville is Ryan’s hometown race; he grew up and lives just a few hours from the track in Belle Plaine, MN.
Following right behind him was the series points leader, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Christophe Pourcel. Battling right behind them in the third and forth spots were Geico Powersports Honda riders Justin Barcia and Brett Metcalfe. Pourcel stayed right with Dungey the whole 30 minutes (plus two lap) race but was unable to get close enough to make the pass.

Christope Pourcel
Dungey took the win with Pourcel second and Barcia and Metcalfe taking the third and fourth spots. Division 7/Star Racing Yamaha rider Broc Tickle would finish in fifth.
Moto 2 – 250cc
Starting moto two was rookie Honda rider Justin Barcia getting the holeshot with Dungey hot on his heels. Pourcel was in third and on the move quickly closing in the front runners. Barcia was able to hold the lead for a few laps before Dungey found his way around him followed by Pourcel.

Justin Barcia
The race between the two top racers in the 250 class was on again. Metcalfe caught up to Barcia and made the pass but Barcia fought back hard and near the end of the moto again passed his teammate. They would finish third and fourth, respectively.
Pourcel rode hard but was never able to catch Dungey. So Ryan Dungey in front of a screaming hometown crowd and would go 1-for-1 for the top spot on the podium with Pourcel taking second overall and Barcia with third overall.

Brett Metcalfe
Metcalfe would finish the day 4th overall. Division 7/Star Racing Yamaha rider Darryl Durham would take the fifth spot in moto two just in front of his teammate Broc Tickle but Tickle would end the day fifth overall.
With Dungey going 1-for-1 he closed in on series points leader Pourcel and now just sits 3 points back with 5 races left in the series. We pick up the action once again next weekend August 1st at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, WA

Millville 450 Race Report Moto 1 – 450cc
This weekend we welcomed back Honda Red Bull Racing 450 rider Davi Millsaps. In round two at Hangtown, Davi was involved in a bad crash the second moto of the day and has been recovering ever since. He was finally back and very ready to race this weekend!
Rounding the first turn in moto one was Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Chad Reed. Last round’s winner, JGR/Toyota/Yamaha rider Josh Grant was in the second spot and Reed’s teammate, Team Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Michael Byrne was in third. Grant, who had the fastest practice lap times all day was doing all he could to get around Reed.

Chad Reed
Just as they crossed the finish line jump, Grant made his move and put the pass on Reed. The two riders would practically stay glued together the whole moto and it looked like Reed was going to make the pass on Grant. But Grant somehow kept finding that extra speed to pull away each time Reed would pressure his back wheel. Grant would hold off the charging Reed and take the top spot in moto one. Reed finished second and his teammate Byrne would hold on for third.

Josh Grant
Finishing fourth in the moto was Canidae/Motosport Kawasaki rider Tommy Hahn and round out the top five was Honda RedBull Racing rider Ivan Tedesco.
Millsaps was in the third position just 3 laps before the end of the moto when he bike would have a mechanical malfunction and he would have to pull off out of the race—talk about heartbreak! But what a great first ride after coming back from his injury.
Moto 2 – 450cc
Moto two would see Tedesco taking the early lead. At the back of the pack in the first turn there was a crash involving four bikes. When the dust cleared there was moto one winner Josh Grant’s bike on the bottom of the pile! He got back up and restarted but fell to last place. But Josh put on a charge like a mad man to pass as many riders and get as many points as he could. There were just a few riders at this point between Tedesco and the hard charging Reed. After about the third lap Reed would make his move and take the lead and pull away. Reed would go on to win the moto and take the overall win.

Ivan Tedesco
Tedesco would hold on to second and finish second overall for the day. Millsaps would take the third spot in moto two and despite DNF’ing the first moto would still finish 10th overall for the day. Reed’s teammate Byrne would finish fourth in the moto but would take third overall for the day and get on the podium for the first time this year.

Andrew Short
Grant put in a superman ride and would make it all the way to tenth, incredible. He would finish just off the podium in the fourth position for the day.
Andrew Short would finish fifth in the moto and fifth over all for the day. With Reeds win he now has a commanding 37-point lead in the series. The 450’s are also back in action next Saturday, August 1st at Washougal MX Park in Washougal, WA. The event will be able to be seen live on SPEED at 9pm ET next Saturday.
