Moto 1
For the second year in a row the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship raced at night at Thunder Valley in Lakewood, Colorado. This is the only event that has every raced under the lights. Although it was a bit hot during the day as soon as the sun went down it was cool and comfortable for racing and spectating.
When the gate dropped in moto one it was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawaski rider Christophe Pourcel taking the holeshot with his teammate Jake Weimer right behind. In third spot was Division 7/Star Racing/Yamaha rider Broc Tickle. Weimer kept it close but was never able to catch Pourcel and make it around him. Pourcel finished in the top spot with Weimer in second. Tickle charged hard and went on to finish in third place. Rounding out the top five in moto one was Geico Powersports Honda rider Blake Wharton in fourth and Muscle Milk/MDK/KTM rider Tommy Searle in fifth.

Racing to the top of the hill in moto two and grabbing the holeshot was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawaski rider Jake Weimer. This time first year pro Geico Powersports Honda rider Justin Barcia was the second and hot on Weimer’s fender in the hopes getting past the big green machine. First moto winner Pourcel got a bad start and had a lot of work to do to try and catch the leaders. Weimer would make a mistake a few laps in and go down handing Barcia the lead. Weimer was up quickly and put on a charge to get back around Barcia. Barcia held the lead for about five or six laps before Weimer came charging up retaking the lead and the win for the overall. Barcia would hold on to second and take fourth overall.
Rounding out the podium in third and taking third overall was the KTM of Tommy Searle. Pourcel managed to only fight his way back to the sixth spot but still took second overall for the night. Although Weimer has won Supercross races before this was his first ever moto and overall win outdoors. Congratulations Jake!

Moto 1
Grabbing the holeshot in moto one was the number 9 of Honda Redbull racings rider Ivan Tedesco. Surprisingly in second was Team RockStar Makita Suzuki Rider Mike Alessi. Surprising I say because just two weeks ago he had major surgery to repair a broken left patella he suffered after a practice crash. Mike wanted to come back way ahead of schedule not wanting to give up any more points after missing the HighPoint race a few weeks ago and wanted to stay in the points chase.

However in the first lap after dropping back a few spots he came together with JGR/Toyota/Yamaha rider Josh Grant and went down hard. He was holding his knee in pain before remounting his bike and trying to continue on. But after a few laps he pulled off and his day was done along with any chance to get any points.
Honda Redbull Racing rider Andrew Short quickly moved into second but he could not catch his teammate Tedesco.
Current points leader RockStar Makita Suzuki Rider Chad Reed would finish in the third spot for moto one and Troy Lee Designs/Lucas oil Honda rider Jake Moss would take fourth and Josh Grant would round out the top five.
Moto 2
In moto two it was Ivan Tedesco once again taking the holeshot just in front of his teammate Andrew Short. Tedesco pulled away but soon Short had a battle on his hands from Canidae/Motosport.com/Kawasaki rider Tommy Hahn. They battled lap after lap and Tommy even passed Short only to make a mistake giving Short the second spot back. Tedesco cruised on for the win under the lights and the overall with Short taking second overall for the night and Tommy Hahn rounding out the podium in third.

Chad Reed would come in seventh in the moto but still take fourth over all for the night and maintain his points lead over Short by 14 points. Just like Jake Weimer in the 250 class, this was Ivan Tedesco’s first ever overall victory in the 450 class.
Big congratulations to Ivan also, way to go Hot Sauce!!
Next Sat we head to Buchanan, MI and race at the famous Red Bud track. Being the 4th of July race it is always a great time. Hope to see ya’s there!
Womens moto race.
Winning both moto’s once again was the amazing Honda Redbull rider Ashley Fiolek. Altough having a heated battle in moto two with Honda mounted Brazilian rider Marianna Balbi she held on and took the win. Second overall was Cernics/AXO/Troy Lee/Von Zipper/RK/KG clutch Suzuki rider Sherri Cruise and rounding out the podium in third for the night was MotoConcepts/ASW/2B Racing/ Honda rider Marianna Balbi. In fourth place for the night and riding the bike of injured Geico Powersports Honda rider Trey Canard was Vicki Golden. So cool they are helping her out with such a tricked out bike.

Rounding out the top five was Honda of Houston/Ryno/Organics/Fox/Oakley rider Jessica Patterson. Fiolek has now won nine out of the last ten motos in the last five races. Like I said in the beginning of this report, she is an amazing rider.
Next race for the women is July 25th at Washougal MX Park in WA.
