I stopped by Bell Aqua, California today for the Summer Slam wakeboard contest. There was actually a decent crowd, smooth water, and a nice hot day to hold a great event. People were partying, hammers were thrown, and Spencer Smith did at least 50 laps around the lake in a golf cart with Nick Valliere and Justin Fisher, killing the battery and pushing it back, then almost tipping some girls out of it. Good times, good times. But on top of that, there was some decent prize money given away and a lot of brand-new gear given out, including CWB bindings and brand new rope/handle sets. Supreme Boats definitely needs to hold this event again. $1500 was handed out to the top women and men riders. In the women's division, Raquael Hoffman took first and won $500, a girl named Andrea from the Bay Area took second and $200, and Shawna Hoffman took third and walked away with $100. Brady Sammons made an awesome comeback from a knee injury last year and a broken ankle earlier this year by winning the Outlaw division, taking home $500. Oh, and did I mention that he doesn't even own a boat? Pictures will follow...
