Don't get me wrong: I'm as stoked on the concrete skatepark revolution
as anyone. Still, there's something to be said for a killer miniramp
session. The one at ASR was as good as it gets, and a few nights after
I got back to Denver I was invited to a Wednesday night secret sesh at
the LossCollector studio on a
humbling little thing with a tweaky channel gap, a vert extension, and
a crazy platform wallride I couldn't even figure out how to get to.
To
round out the week of the mini ramp resurrection, be sure to check out
the
live
webcast of Volcom's Big Gig Mini Ramp contest going down Saturday
at Surf Expo in Orlando. Ramp by Team
Pain, contest run by the good folks at
Spot, and
the requisite Surf Expo
bikini girls in full force. What more could you ask for?
I've had
enough trade showing for one month, and I'm already Orlando-bound in
October for the AST Dew Tour finale, so a webcast sounds just about
right. And here's a confession: I watched one of the X Games street
contests this year from the privacy or my friends' LA apartment, and
enjoyed it more than the one I watched live and in person. I endorse
the experience. Enjoy.
