This is sort of a big deal. The Discovery Channel's newest primetime TV show Time Warp will feature Mike Steidley and Jeff Lenosky this week. From what I've heard it's going to be pretty sick, so definitely tune in.
Here's a press release that Steidley sent me and below that is the one I got from Lenosky.

Mike Steidley and Jeff Lenosky to Appear on the Discovery Channel TV Show Time Warp High Speed Cameras Meet Mountain Bikes this Wednesday, Nov. 26th at 8:00p.m. Eastern Standard Time

New Haven, Conn., (November 24th, 2008)- Mike Steidley and Jeff Lenosky will appear on the popular TV show Time Warp on the Discovery Channel this week to showcase there trials riding abilities. Time Warp combines high-speed digital photography and MIT scientist and teacher Jeff Lieberman’s wacky ideas to bring viewers images that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.  Teamed up with his digital imagining veteran Matt Kearney the two hosts pull out all the stops to capture video in a way that can hardly be imagined, at over 15,000 frames per second.

The sport of Mountain Bike Trials was a perfect target for the show as riders put a tremendous amount of stress on their bicycles and components and leave large amounts of opportunity for further slow-motion examining.  Both athletes will introduce viewers to the main maneuvers and tricks of the sport and to then the Time Warp crew will slow them down and examine exactly what happens to both rider and bike.
Whether it’s a huge bunny hop, gigantic gap or360 spin the Time Warp crew was able to capture every detail so that it could then be examined in slow motion down to every minuscule detail with perfect clarity.

Lieberman’s scientific approach shows amazing detail and analysis of the riders movement and muscles as well as capturing the demands on the bikes.  Everything from the pinpoint landing on the edge of an obstacle, to the ability to balance while riding a handrail to the tire compression before a jump and as it lands and grips its target can be seen in a way you would never have imagined.  Tune in to the Discovery Channel on Wednesday the 26th at 8:00 p.m. to catch all the action.

--------------------------------------------------

Giant Urban Freeride legend Jeff Lenosky will be featured on Wednesday, November 26, at 8:00 pm (Eastern/Pacific) on the Discovery Channel series, "Time Warp."  If you haven't watched "Time Warp" yet
(It just premiered last month) catch this episode.  The show is hosted by a scientist from MIT and he and his crew use the latest high-speed photography techniques to slow down and examine things like a human
getting punched in the mouth by an Ultimate Fighter, a piece of raw chicken exploding, and a water balloon thrown into a person's face – cool scientific stuff like that.  If you want a preview of what the show has done, clickhere.

That will load a few clips of the show edited together to Beethoven's Ode to Joy.  That's a nice introduction, but over on the scroll panel on the left, move the scroll bar down to "Time Warp."  Here's where 35 clips from the show have been loaded.  To watch, you'll have to put up with some commercials, I'm afraid, but try to catch the video labeled "Lighters in Blender."  Scientific?  I'm not sure.  But -- truly -- an inspiration to pyromaniacs everywhere.

Anyway, on Time Warp on November 26 (and rebroadcast a few times over the following few days) the cameras slow down the unbelievable freeride skills of Jeff Lenosky and Mike Steidley.   Here's how the Discovery Channel listing describes the episode with Jeff and Mike: "The Time Warp cameras capture the stunts of two urban bike riders, the athletic precision of an ice skater, and the tricks of a cardthrower whose 90-mph focused toss can chop vegetables and put out candles."  You can set yourself up with an e mail alert as to when the show with Jeff will be on by clicking here.  Seriously, catch this show.  Should be great.  It gives you another reason to watch Discovery Channel besides "Shark Week."
