This week finds me smack dab in the middle of arguably one of the best BMX scenes on Earth, Salt Lake City. Home to BMX legends such as Tim "Fuzzy" Hall, Mike Aitken, Rob Wise, Elf and the topic of today's post, Matt Beringer. I'm sure most of you know that Matt has one of the most creative backyard ramp setups on the planet, but what you may not know is that there is a possibility that you'll soon be able to have the exact same setup as Matt (only smaller). The finger bike company Flick Trix is currently in the process of trying to make a finger bike friendly version of Matt's backyard. I personally couldn't think of a better person for this to happen to, since Matt himself is a big kid and plays with all kinds of toys.
This past weekend Matt had a big BBQ/ramp jam at his house so we could film the festivities. The plan is to include a DVD with the toy so kids at home can see what really goes on in Matt's backyard. Locals came out of the woodwork and some serious moves went down, most notably AJ Anaya and Cameron Wood sending themselves off Matt's roof and all over the yard. Fellow Flick Trix riders Brian Kachinsky and Adam Banton were also in attendance. Good times were had by all (is it even possible to have a bad time around Matt?). Anyway, we'll keep you posted on the release of the toy/DVD when more details become available.
As for me, I'm about to start an 8 hour drive to Denver, CO for a Props trip that takes place this upcoming week. Alex Magallan, Tom Dugan, Shane Weston, and Tom Smith will join me on the trek from Denver, through Albuquerque, and on home to Austin. It should be a good time with a bunch of guys I barely know. I'll be giving updates from the road to let you know how that trip shapes up.
