Louie Vito looking to become the first male winter
sport athlete to win the Dew Tour back-to-back
The Winter Dew Tour heads to Snowbasin in Utah this weekend for the Toyota Championships. The top contenders in snowboarding and freeskiing superpipe and slopestyle disciplines will battled it out for the Dew Cup. Salt Lake local Louie Vito has one goal in particular he'd like to accomplish--to become the first male winter athlete to win the Dew Cup for two consecutive years. Although he has made it to the podium in the last two events, he has yet to win a stop and will need a 'W' at Snowbasin to claim the Cup. Who does Vito think his biggest competition is? Iouri Podladtchikov aka "I-Pod" who won last year's Killington Pantech Invite and is the current leader on the Tour by just two points. Also gunning for the Cup are Sebastien Toutant aka "Seb Toots" who has a pair of second place finishes in the bag and you can't forget Gjermund Braaten as an equal threat.
Men's Freeski Superpipe top contenders are Kevin Rolland who is looking to repeat his 2011 Dew Cup performance and Tourin Yater-Wallace who just picked up his first Dew Tour win last time around. Another SLC local, Tom Wallisch sits high up there with his two firs tplace finishes in the Freeski Slopestyle event but Nick Goepper is hot on his heels with his two podium finishes so far this season.
The Winter Dew Tour will get a free show from Mac Miller on historic 25th street in downtown Ogden on Friday, February 10th at 9:00pm. Awesome competition, fierce rivalry and an free show, now how awesome is that?
