Poppin' champagne like I won a WRC deal.
After four near misses in the US Championship, the fastest man in America, Ken Block may have his sights set on a larger scope. If we're correct Kenny from the Block may be spending more time eating tea and crumpets on a new Monster Energy WRC team with Australian teammate and former Subaru WRC driver Chris Atkinson. The pair has been seen together most recently in a YouTube video filmed at Team O'Neil Rally School.
The Monster Energy WRC Team would be run by M-Sport, an English company, run by Malcolm Wilson, that has been preparing Ford WRC cars since 1996. More fuel for the fire - Ken Block has tested in a Ford WRC car before, so if Wasserman Media Group can put the three year deal together, Ken will Focus in a partial WRC season in 2010 and a full season in 2011.
"Ken Block is an iconic figure in US motorsport and a major box office personality. It wouldn't get much better than this for the WRC going into North America," said WRC promoter Simon Long, indicating the potential for a WRC event in North America, but not specifically the US or Canada.
Stay tuned to find out what goes down.
