Anyone who has been involved in mountain biking for the last few years recognizes the name Jim DeChamp. Back in 2004/2005 he was making the rounds as a top dual slalom racer and street/dirt rider. One thing that always kept him on the radar was his ability to throw ridiculous tricks seemingly out of nowhere. One instance in particular was at the Red Bull Boston Bike Battle (alliteration!) where he attempted a front flip over a step up. Keep in mind this was close to four years ago when most MTB riders were still learning how to tailwhip and barspin. Ultimately he came up a little short and crushed himself on the pavement. Eventually he got up and basically walked it off. The dude is tough as nails (video below)



Since then Jim dropped out of the MTB spotlight and began riding a lot of moto. Now lets fast forward to a few days ago. Scott Hart over at Decline Magazine posted a video of Jim throwing front flips into a foam pit on his motorcycle. Insane!!!



Last night was the X Games moto best trick event and Jim threw the flip. Unfortunately he met the same fate as he did four years ago in Boston, except this time he was about 20 times higher in the air and the footage broadcast on live television. Just like his crash in Boston, Jim spent a few minutes on the ground before ultimately getting up and walking away.





Jim is definitely a badass with some real skill and serious balls. My hat is off to this guy for raising a lot eyebrows in two different sports in less than four years.
