It's a slow news day, and don't get me wrong this is not a slight against Jared. I just read the title of the press release that said "Jared Graves Dominates the '09 Oceana Championships" and couldn't help but think of alternate headlines like the one above.

Regardless I thought about it some more and realized that it's actually a pretty big accomplishment. Oceana (principally comprised of Australia and New Zealand) is the breeding ground for the fastest DH racers in the world.

So despite the fact that Jared won a regional championship against mostly unknown riders, it's basically the MTB equivalent of winning a marathon in Kenya. A damn fine accomplishment in my books.
