Jacobellis Falters Again

By Sal Rubial/USA Today - Nobody's perfect. Snowboard cross rider Lindsey Jacobellis has proved that axiom at two Winter Games. Her first mistake was when she botched the final jump at the 2006 Torino Games after a spontaneous trick spontaneously combusted and turned her sure-thing gold medal into a silver.
Now 24, she has spent the last four years aiming at redemption in the Vancouver Games, but when the time came on Tuesday afternoon at Cypress Mountain, her spirit was willing, but her board was weak. A slip right after the start of her semifinal heat pitched her into a course gate panel, and instead of gold, she received an automatic disqualification. Game over.
"I feel OK," the most successful woman in her sport said after the race. "Sometimes you can't control things the way that you want to and that's boardercross. I've had a great career in it, and I've been dominant in it. And sometimes I fall into funks where things like that happen."
