Icer Air, or Esurance ICER AIR if you will, returns for its fourth iteration and is set to go off in San Francisco this Saturday. The event has been moved from the waterfront majesty of AT&T ballpark to a parking lot, where athletes will hit a tow-in jump instead of the scaffolding colossus of last year. Here is how the press release describes this year's feature:
For the next evolution of Esurance ICER AIR, skiers and snowboarders will be launched using a catapult system developed in Finland by Soul Productions. The catapult will rocket the athletes down a 120 foot- long track and launch them 30 feet in the air, at distances of up to 70 feet onto a corner, or hip landing. The new structure creates an exciting opportunity for the skiers and snowboarders to showcase their skills and ensures the audience can be close to the action. The catapult system will allow Esurance ICER AIR to return to its urban roots, as it can be set up in almost any environment or cityscape.
