How will you spend June 21, the 7th annual Go Skateboarding Day? Skateboarding, of course, but click over to the newly overhauled GoSkateboardingDay.org site to work out the specifics of what's going down in your area, or to submit your own event.
I'm going to be starting my day off with a flatland Father's Day session across the street in Platt Park with my young son and daughter, who have been practicing dilligently on carpet but haven't logged a lot of time on concrete yet, before heading over to check out the festivities at the Denver Skatepark, where Boardpusher.com, Colorado Skate University, Monster Energy, Educated Figures, Oakley, Diabolical, Emage Skateshop, Osiris, Never Summer Industries, Continuum, and Premium Skateboards are throwing down for Biggest Fish in the Pond: Denver Skate Day.
It's a worthy pond for the event, too: The 9.5-foot deep peanut bowl and other features at the Denver Skatepark make it one of my favorite spots, and like other Go Skateboarding Day events around the world on Sunday, Denver Skate Day will have events for skaters of all ages and ability levels and will, at some point, degenerate into a free-for-all take-to-the-streets skate parade.
