The filmmakers decided to exclusively cover the New Zealand scene and work only with riders in the country. For over a year they traveled around the North and South islands building stunts, setting up cable cams down trails, and most importantly shooting a TON of footage wiht the best riders in NZ.
Tim and Chris shot the whole film on Panasonic DVX-100's. Unlike scores of other new producers the crew at Dysto spent ample time working with the cameras to get footage that resembles film more than digital. Their production work was so well thought out that they gained mainstream coverage on various news stations around New Zealand. One particular news episode showed a filmer gliding down a zip-line while filming downhill phenom Sam Blenkinsop shredding singletrack.
For the past several months Tim and Chris (the films producers) have spent time in their editing cave and gone to work in post production. Just to give you an idea for how close their attention to detail is, they have budgeted 2 weeks time just for color correction!
They also have been spending time shooting segment introductions and assorted non-riding footage all around the country. It's the attention to small details like that which will ultimately make or break a young production team's careers. In this case it looks at though Tim and Chris have long careers to look forward to.
Banquet is fortunate enough to be recieving an advance copy of the film within the next few weeks. Check back soon to hear our first impressions of this unique film!
