Piling into the Fine Arts Auditorium

Last night the weather in Salt Lake City seemed to be the calm before the storm. There was a high of 85 that quickly turned into an evening windstorm as soon as the Billabong/Get Real video tour bus rolled up on campus of the University of Utah.

Salt Lake City was stop number three on the Transworld Get Real video tour. The campus police quickly made an appearance after noticing the rapid accumulation of long-haired, gypsy skaters causing a lot of ruckus all attempting to kickflip the nearby 4 stair. As the wind picked up and the grey skies set in, everyone piled inside the University s Fine Arts Auditorium that has been home to many snowboard video premiers over the years.

Early birds enjoyed a sneak peak of Variety Packs
new video, Not Bad.

Upon early arrival, excited fans were able to get a sneak peak of Not bad , the latest video from Utahs own Variety Pack Crew. Following Not Bad was the Transworld feature Get Real

Chris Grenier started off the video with one of the best and most entertaining parts I have seen all year. Chris had a good variety of jumps as well as urban shots. His part set the stage for many more good times to come in the rest of the video when his ender was a front board on a triple kink handrail riding a swallow-tail board.

Scott Stevens also had a stand out part filled with many make something out of nothing tricks like one-handed front handsprings over big black garbage cans. He also did more combo moves than a Mortal Kombat fatality round when 270ing on and off of double slide rails. Overall, Scott s part was the most creative.

Amongst a lot of freeriding, cliff drops and powder turns, Jed Anderson claimed last part with one of the longest parts in history. Two full-length songs were barely enough to cover all of the tricks in Jed s bag. With long kink handrails and big perfectly landed jump shots, he was definitely deserving of last part.

After Get Real , The People Crew presented their latest video titled Nice Try . Zac Marben had first part with tricks such as hand-plant cliff drops, and big front boards pushing through multiple kinks.

The crowd made an unusual amount of noise as they saw Will Tuddenham s part stand out above many others. Will is a SLC local that had previously filmed full parts in all of the Team Thunder videos until he caught a well deserved break and was given the opportunity to film with People last year. It was Will s first full part in a major production and by far the best snowboarding I have seen come out of him. Will s part was spiced up with a few quick cameos of close friend, Jon Kooley that eventually led into Jon s part immediately after.

Of course, the young guns in the crowd were excited to see Kooley s part and for good reason. As always, he did not disappoint. Wall ride trannies and roof drops amongst kinked rails and clips of him peeling out on his motorcycle, all combined nicely for a watch over and over again kind of part.

cuz he is Pat Moore's personal assistant.

A well deserved last part went to Seth Huot after falling over a double kink hand rail equipped with pillar closeouts set up half way down the set. Also featured in his part was a shot of him splitting his head open. After getting wrecked a few times, he still was able to deliver an incredible part that wrapped up the latest Transworld Video, Get Real.

As the storm rolled in and the Billabong/Get Real tour bus rolled out, all that was left behind was the start of an incredible season ahead. Salt Lake City s current weather predictions today call for a low of 35 with valley rain possibly turning to snow at higher elevations. Snow in September? Get Real!
