Out of a field of 19 BMX riders, Bryan Lacombe won the BMX park competition and Anthony Garcia won the BMX vert contest Sunday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour’s stop in Newnan, Ga.

Eighteen-year-old Lacombe from Fort Myers, Fla. earned the BMX park victory at Factory Skatepark after executing a tailwhip transfer and an alley-oop tailwhip on the quarterpipe during his winning run. Jovanny Benitez was second and Devon Smillie finished in third place.

“It was exhilarating,†Lacombe said. “I’m so tired but so stoked to go to the finals in SLC. This is a big relief coming off a bad year for me.â€

In the BMX vert contest, 17-year-old Garcia used an almost-flawless run that included no handers, bar spins and double seatgrabs to secure the win. Benitez took second place in the vert competition as well, while Cade Wall rounded out the top three.

“Today’s competition was another great success,†Factory owner, Dean O’Reilly said. “It’s great to know that the Gatorade Free Flow Tour is giving these four kids a chance to take their riding to the next level.â€

With the win, both Lacombe and Garcia earn an automatic bid into the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals that will take place at the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 17-20, 2009.

In Saturday’s action at Factory, Phil Hansen and Clay Kreiner took the skate park and vert titles, respectively.

Out of a field of 30 BMX riders, Larry Edger won the BMX park competition Saturday at the Gatorade Free Flow Tour’s stop in Perris, Calif.

Fifteen-year-old Edger from Corona, Calif. earned the victory at The Compound after executing a 360 tailwhip and a 180 tuck no-hander in his winning run. Daniel Sandoval was second and Steven Rice finished in third place.

“I’m so excited to win on the Gatorade Free Flow Tour,†Edger said. “My hands won’t stop shaking!â€

“Today’s competition went well,†Compound owner, Shane Guillen said. “There were a lot of good rippers that came out to compete. I’m glad I wasn’t a judge! It was a tight contest.â€

The 2009 Gatorade Free Flow Tour will include a total of 33 skateboarding competitions (five skate vert and 28 skate park) and 20 BMX contests (four BMX vert and 16 BMX park) at 33 parks across the United States. The winners in each of the 53 skate and BMX competitions will be flown to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, taking place at the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 17-20. Encompassing the “Flow to Pro†theme that is the cornerstone of the Gatorade Free Flow Tour, the two overall skate and BMX park champions and the two overall skate and BMX vert champions earn a spot to compete against the pros at the final stop of the Dew Tour, the PlayStation® Pro in Orlando, Fla., October 15-18.
