With nearly every company slashing marketing budgets World Cup race teams have taken a huge hit. Rather than staying on factory teams with reduced support, many racers are taking the sitaution into their own hands and launching their own teams.

Top contender Duncan Riffle has roped in the support of online startup Giantnerd to bankroll his new race team effort along with Bravo Condoms and Mavic Rims, among a long list of other sponsors.

So far the team is lacking a bike sponsor, but with Duncan's uncanny ability to rope in out of industry sponsors we're pretty sure the bike thing will be solved quite soon.
