This Saturday at 6:00 pm MST the top competitors in Ski Pipe will face of in the final event of the Winter Dew Tour, The Toyota Championships. At the wrap of this event, someone will be annointed with the Dew Cup and some extra cash. Leading the standings is the dominant French force Kevin Rolland, but hot on his tails are Torin Yater-Wallace and Justin Dorey (who is out with an injury). So the only sure ways for Kevin to lock up the title are to place above Torin and finish no less than 2nd if Tucker Perkins wins the event. There has also been a swing in the judging criteria that no longer favors Kevin's style of riding. So the reigning champ has his work cut out for him to win the cup. Here's who to watch for:
#1 David Wise

David is coming off his first major career win, the X Games. And when you hit it big at the biggest event in the sport; momentum is on your side. David has long been on the forefront of the sport and now has the hardware to prove it. What's different about David is his new found confidence, which he has gained by switching his ski sponsor to 4FRNT. They are working together to build David's perfect ski and his success at X Games shows they might just have found the formula. David also has the gnarliest bag of tricks and can cater his run to beat any competitor. At X, David learned that he doesn't need to bring out all his biggest tricks to win, that just a few of them are enough. The enormous air and style in his basic run; is as technical as any of his competitors. That is why he is the #1 contender for Gold.
# 2 Torin Yater-Wallace

Torin has had a stellar season. He has been on the podium at every event so far. He even won the Killington Dew Tour Stop; so he knows what it takes to get a gold. Torin's cool and calm demeanor in the start gives him an advantage over his competition. Even with all the pressure of being in the running for the Dew Cup bonus money, Torin is going to just cool out and look to enjoy himself. His ability to shrug off all outside influences is what makes him such a strong contender. He has the best competitive psychology in the group. To get that gold; he needs to have an absolute flawless run and for both David and Kevin to make a mistake in theirs. One thing you can expect for sure is that Torin will be on the podium.
#3 Kevin Rolland

Kevin has all the tricks, competitive ability and amplitude to take the Gold. Kevin has landed a run in every finals he has appeared in this year. He is always a contender, but Kevin needs to re-discover perfection. Small mistakes in his runs have cost him the podium in the last two major events. Also his competitors have pioneered new tricks into their runs, putting Kevin at a disadvantage. Kevin will have the advantage of heading straight into the finals, so he will be fresher than everyone other than Torin, who is granted the same benefit because of his tour ranking. Kevin needs to dial up his run though in order to capture that Gold.
# 4 Tai Barrymore

Wing Tai is hitting his stride. This season he has racked up impressive results. Those results have prepared him to take Gold at this stop of the Dew Tour. His massive airs and balls to the wall riding have made him a favorite with the judges. To get on top, Tai just needs to land his run. The only thing hodling Tai back is himself. He needs to play it smart and not ski recklessly. If he can do that, Tai could be hanging another gold on around his neck.
#5 Noah Bowman

Noah came out of no where at X Games and showed us he is a contender. It was his coming out party. At X, Noah became the first person ever to land a switch double alley opp flatspin in competition and he did it with effortless style. It shows that the pieces are starting to fall into place for this youngster. Noah is silent, but his skiing is making a lot of noise. The judges are listening very closely, too. He is the dark horse in this event. You can bet that he will bring a similar run to the event, and that run might spell Gold for Noah.
