Nothing compares to that first early season pow
turn.
The legendary Mt Baker is famous for three things: The Mt. Baker Banked Slalom, lift-accessed in-bounds terrain that bests most resort's backcountry zones, and loads of deep pow.
In fact, Mt Baker holds the world record for most snowfall in a given year - 1,140 inches that fell during the El Nino winter of 1998-99.
Fortunately for Northwest shredders El Nino is again in effect this year, and seems to be starting out with a bang. Mt. BAker opened today with a 72 inch base after receiving a week of heavy snow and cold temps.

Mt Baker gets buried just in time for opening day. It's always exciting when deep snow lines up for first turns and early season stoke. It's good for the riders, good for resorts and good for retailers...just in time for the holiday shopping spree!
Be glad the white stuff is coming, and pray that it continues.
