So Bode Miller just announced he is taking the rest of the year off from the World Cup circuit, per an entry in his online diary. Bode claims his heart's not really in it, and he wants to spend more time with his one-year-old daughter in San Diego.
So what does this have to do with us? Hell, it's one step closer to the inevitable MSP video segment of Bode slaying massive lines on the brink of control up in Haynes, AK. Remember how fucking mind-blowing Jeremy Nobis was (is?)?  Bode would be the most explosive thing to ever happen to the big mountain freeriding scene... most of those guys are former racers, but none have the racing skill and fearlessness of 2x World Cup Overall Champion Bode Miller. I am giddy at the prospect of this happening.ÂÂ
So Bode, take your time, max out in San Diego with the daughter for a bit, and then start lining up heli trips for next winter. it will agree with your sensibilities and the results will be spectacular.
One of the best: Nobis Video (skip the intro):
Here's Bode's statement: "I am going to take the rest of the season off.ÂÂ
Due to a number of factors, it makes sense to call it a season. I came into the season excited, with my mental and physical intensity where I wanted it to be. I had speed and raced hard all season but it didn't translate into the results we were hoping for. I have been racing world cup for a while and need a break. At this time I find more happiness doing other things than being on tour. In terms of retirement, I have not yet made any decisions.ÂÂ
I thank everyone for their support, arc on."ÂÂ
