More tragedy in the mountains to report today. Just days after an avalanche nearly killed a 42 year old man in Colorado, another avalanche on Monday near Aspen killed a local, 38-year-old Adam Dennis.
Reports indicate a slide took place in Desolation Row, which is located off Highland Bowl.
Dennis was wearing a beacon and accompanied by two companions who located him and dug him out within 15 minutes, but were unable to revive him.
Avalanche conditions in the area have been considered very bad. On Saturday another slide was triggered by three skiers, one of whom was partially buried but survived.
The crown was estimated to run up to 10 feet with the run off descending 2,000 feet to the valley.
Thoughts and prayers go out to friends and families of Adam Dennis.
