Athletes Announced for Dew Tour Skate Open

World-class skate athletes will be coming out for the first ever skate-only stop on the Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour. The second stop of the Dew Tour’s 2009 season, also designated as the International Skateboarding Federation (ISF) Skateboarding World Championships, will be held in Boston, July 24-25 at the TD Garden.
 
Over 140 of the best skateboard athletes in the world will be in Boston to compete in the two-day competition, including 2008 Dew Cup champion Chaz Ortiz (Skate Park), 2009 Maloof Money Cup champions Chris Cole (Skate Park) and Alex Perelson (Skate Vert), MTV’s ‘Life of Ryan’ superstar Ryan Sheckler (Skate Park) and Boston-native Andy Macdonald (Skate Vert).
 
“We are thrilled to bring the Dew Tour to Boston for the first time in its five-year history for the Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships,” said Chris Prybylo, General Manager of the Dew Tour. “With this type of athlete roster and having the first-ever World Champion title on the line, this event promises to go down in history.” 
 
Athletes are pre-qualified based on their rankings at the end of the 2008 Dew Tour season. In skateboard park, additional athletes were pre-qualified by ISF invitation. Additionally, two wildcards for the skateboard vert discipline have been selected.  Athletes who are not pre-qualified may compete as International Qualifiers at the Skate Open, ISF Skateboarding World Championships to earn a spot in the preliminary rounds. 7:15PM – 8:45PM SKB Park Prelims, Group 2 (Men)
9:00PM – 11:00PM FREE Taking Back Sunday Concert at City Hall Plaza
 
Saturday, July 25th – Gates Open at 1:00PM
1:00PM – 2:00PM SKB Vert Prelims (Men)
2:30PM – 3:30PM SKB Park Final (Women)
4:00PM – 6:00PM SKB Park Final (Men)
