On June 19, OBEY, Arkitip and Alife had a party for the unveiling of the Shepard Fairey Arkitip issue in Hollywood. Held at Space 15 Twenty, the party featured beverages by Belvedere, OBEY x Alife collabo gear and Shepard providing the pulsating beats.
Fairey, compared to a modern-day Warhol, has been a force to the street art movement since his time spent at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Creating his ubiquitous Andre the Giant image by goofing around one day, Fairey went on a tear posting stickers and pasters of this image around the world. Now known as "the guy who designed that Obama Hope image", Shepard is finally receiving the mainstream credit he's due. First featured in Arkitip issue 0003, Mr. Fairey and his 20-year Obey Propaganda movement are celebrated in the newest issue, 0051.
Arkitip, known to think outside the box, went all out when it came to issue packaging. Each issue arrives in a 7.5 x 10" box containing a silkscreened print signed by Shep and a special stencil cover so you can tag your hood. Limited to only 5000, these issues will be going fast. You can pick yours up here...who does BNQT need to know to score one?
